Only the finest berries make it as a Driscoll’s berry. This international A-brand grows its own varieties of raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries. Only the top one percent of varieties make it to the consumer. That means only the juiciest, sweetest, and most delicious fruits are selected, and hand harvested. In fact, most likely only two people touch a Driscoll’s berry: the harvester and the consumer that buys it. Driscoll’s works hand in hand with over a thousand of independent farmers, harvesters and grocers and considers them to be part of the family. The harvesters play a vital role in delivering fresh, high-quality products.
Driscoll’s is a family-owned company that has been operating for over a hundred years. The original headquarters is in California, the second, Europe, Middle East and Africa oriented head office is in Breda. From this dynamic and rapidly growing office, the company is developing a strong position in the European, Middle Eastern and African berry markets. Sustainability is one of the company’s main pillars. With the recently introduced paper packs, a plastic reduction of 94 percent to 98 percent is realised. With this new packaging, the company has taken a next step to help preserve the environment and the future of the planet.
The culture at the Breda office is very entrepreneurial and people closely collaborate to reach their goals. Although there are about 160 employees at Driscoll’s, there is a scale-up vibe. No two days are the same at this business that is all about fresh produce and the young and dynamic team is hands-on, pragmatic, flexible and eager to learn. The entire European company has about 270 employees, with smaller offices in Portugal, Spain, and Morocco.
